If you’ve considered starting a blog but you just haven’t taken that leap of faith yet, I want to encourage you today to get started! I know you may have a lot of questions, but the best way to learn is to just jump in and learn as you go.
HOW TO START A BLOG FROM BEGINNING TO FINISH
Getting started blogging can seem overwhelming, but it’s really a simple process.
Buy a Domain Name
Write Your First Post.
PICK A NICHE
What will your blog be about? Parenting? Fashion? Food? Blogging tips? etc..
It can be anything you love doing or you are passionate about, once you pick your niche, it’s time to get building.
Your domain name is the URL address of your blog. For instance, my domain is: tessyonyia.com
The hosting company is where your website lives. It’s either you use WordPress or blogger but I would advise you to go self-hosting and totally own your blog! If you are going for WordPress then you need a registrar and a hosting company. There are many platforms available for your blog.Hands down, I recommend WordPress. If you take my recommendation and select WordPress, go to WordPress.org to download and head over to Bluehost to set up the hosting.
But the thing is, you could start your own self-hosted website for less, It’s really better to own your own blog right from the start.
Select and buy your domain name. Search or think of a catchy blog name that you like and find a domain to go with it or you can also use your name just like I did. I’ve always purchased my domains from GoDaddy.
Choosing the name of your blog can be fun and also challenging. Give it some good thought. Ask your friends for ideas. Pray about it. And then see if the domain is available. If it is, grab it immediately!Let me quickly take you through the process of signing up with Bluehost a domain and hosting.
Yaay! Guess what? You’re more than halfway done. By this point, you’ve picked your niche, domain name, and completed the build of your blog.
Next step is design
This is where it starts to get fun. Once you’ve purchased your domain name, set up a hosting account, you’ll want to choose a theme. A blog theme is basically the way your blog will look like.If you want to give your blog a custom look, you’ll likely want to purchase a theme. But it’s totally not necessary until you feel you are ready! One of my favourite places to find pretty themes is georgialoustudios I am currently using a theme from them which I really love and I hope you guys love it too.
It’s not hard you just install your theme and activate it. Once your theme is activated you can customise the header, colours, and more. I’ll talk more about that in an upcoming blog post! You Might Also Like Interesting tips on how to spice up a boring blog life.3.
