AMAZING HEALTH BENEFITS OF DATES

Date fruit is one of the sweetest fruits around and also happens to come in different varieties. Although dates can be eaten fresh, the fruit is often dried, resembling raisins or plums. But whether fresh or dry, the health benefits of dates are enormous. It’s mainly sold in the northern part of the country by the Hausa’s and also other parts of Nigeria, its is popularly known as dobino in Hausa language.

After telling hubby about the health benefits some days back, yesterday he bought them for me while coming back from work, so I decided to share the benefits with you all, hope you learn one or two things from this topic

Nutritional Content Of Dates

If you’re looking for fibre, potassium, or copper, look no further than dates. While dates are rich in many vital nutrients and therefore offer many health benefits, the fruit is so small that you’ll need to consume a larger quantity to get the necessary nutritional value.

Note: Dates are high in sugar content  coming in at a whopping 66.5 grammes per 100 gramme serving of the fruit. It is recommended to lessen sugar consumption as much as possible, even when the sugar is being consumed from fruit.

Here are some health benefits of dates.
1. Relieving Constipation

Fibre is essential for promoting colon health and making for regular bowel movements. The insoluble and soluble fibre found in dates help to clean out the gastrointestinal system, allowing the colon to work at greater levels of efficiency. It helps people suffering from constipation, all you need to do is soak dates overnight and eat them in the morning along with drinking water.

2. Boosting Heart Health

In addition to promoting colon health, fibre is also known to boost the good health condition of the heart.

3. Anti-Inflammatory

Dates are rich in magnesium, a mineral known for its anti-inflammatory benefits“inflammatory indicators in the body.

4. Reduce Blood Pressure

Magnesium has been shown to help lower blood pressure and again, dates are full of the mineral. Additionally, potassium is another mineral in dates that has several functions within the body, aiding with the proper workings of the heart and helping to reduce blood pressure.

5. Reduced Stroke Risk

After evaluating 7 studies published researchers found stroke risk was reduced by 9% for every 100 milligrammes of magnesium a person consumes per day. It’s rich in potassium and low in sodium, this helps regulate a healthy nervous system and can reduce the risk of stroke.

6. For A Healthy Pregnancy and Delivery

Further adding to the health benefits of dates, one study performed by researchers discovered how the date fruit impact labour or parameters and delivery outcomes. After studying 69 women for a year and 1 month, the researchers found that “the consumption of date fruit in the last 4 weeks before labour significantly reduced the need for induction and augmentation of labour, and produced a more favourable, but non-significant, delivery outcome.

7. Boosting Brain Health

Some studies, such as found that sufficient vitamin B6 levels are associated with improved brain performance and better test scores.

8. Treats Anemia

Dates have high iron content and are very useful in treating anaemia. The patients can eat many dates for more advantages.

9. Energy Booster

Dates are great energy boosters as they contain natural sugars like glucose, sucrose and fructose.

10.Prevents abdominal cancer

It is high in natural antioxidants which help in preventing the development of some colonic cancers. It does not have any side effect on the body and is completely natural.

11. Improves eyesight

It also helps in improving eyesight and helps in curing night blindness as well.

10. Strengthens tooth enamel

Dry date fruits contain fluorine, which is an essential mineral to slow down the process of early tooth decay.

11. Can serve as an Aphrodisiac

Also, dates can serve as an aphrodisiac for women and men with low libido, for those who suffer from low sexual libido, dates supply the body with enough quantity of Vitamin E, essential for fertility in both men and women hence a good aphrodisiac.

To help enhance sexual libido, soak it in water overnight and blend with coconut and tiger nut(aya), sieve out the milk, refrigerate and gulp down, you can get the recipe and procedure here and then after drinking you will be on your way to La..la..world **winks**

Yes Tessy. This has enormous benefits. It is one of the trade marks of Saudi Arabia. Used in breaking fast and generally a number one item on a dessert plate. Personally, it helped me with my morning sickness while pregnant. I can't say enough about this fruit. Hope to feature it on my blog too. Thanks for sharing. http://www.bubusboulevard.com
