TIPS ON HOW TO SAVE MONEY DURING THE HOLIDAYS

Though the long holiday in Nigeria is almost over, but with the hype that holidays usually brings, people always have the tendency to buy more and spend more without taking into account the consequences of what their actions can bring.
Hence, it does not necessarily mean that because it is the holidays you have all the reason in this world to buy whatever you want and spend how much you want.

Here are some tips to help you save more:

1. Make a budget and stick to it

The problem with most people is that they find making a budget relatively easy but sticking to it is doubly hard. So what’s the point of making a budget when you do not know how to conform to what you have stated in there?

Making and using your budget should always go hand in hand. Therefore, when you make your budget this during the holiday season, it is best that you follow the things that are written in it so that you would be able to save more money.

2. Live within your means

The trick to saving more money is to always live within your means. Spending more than what you can afford will definitely bring more problems than you can afford to solve.

3. Shop and compare

It really pays to shop around and doubly better when you compare prices. You will never know which items are better priced than the others are when you do not compare their values.

The point here is that you should not be confined to one shopping portal or mall., try to look for other items, usually in thrift stores and consignment shops, where you can find the best items at a lower price.

Indeed, shopping for the holidays can be fun, but you don’t have to be spendthrift. Nowadays, you really just have to be practical.

These are really great tips! I know holiday shopping can get quite expensive especially if you are looking for that one of a kind gift! I am bad at shopping around and comparing prices haha. Definitely something to keep in mind this year so I don't eat in to my travel budget! 🙂

The is such a great post. The tips you shared are very helpful. I love #2 most. Many of us struggle with that. Cutting your expenses so you have money left over at the end of each month is very important.

These are all such great, sound advice for developing and sticking with a budget. (Us) Americans have a bad reputation for spending more than we earn, which is why we have such a large debt as a nation; it's crazy! I've definitely been working towards saving more and only purchasing what I know I need and will wear plenty. Plus, I only tend to shop the sale rack, haha. In this age where people are spoilt by credit cards, too many have fallen victims of themselves; spending way more than they could afford because it's so easy to use credit card. I agree with sticking to a budget, I learned to do that years ago as a single mother.
